Sometimes when you're in the middle of health challenges, just the right quote can help you make decisions that are otherwise difficult. I'm dealing with polycythemia vera right now. My doctor wants me to take hydroxyurea, which has many side effects - as most prescription drugs do... I've been researching natural therapies and using chiropractic and acupuncture, which so far has helped greatly. But my doctor is continuously trying to put the "fear of God" in me about what can happen if I don't take the drug.
While, thankfully, this condition has only caused me mild discomfort so far, I don't want it to proceed beyond that. I know my mind is the first place to begin my work. I'm sure you'll all agree that when life gets hectic, it's also the most elusive to keep under control. This quote helped me this morning.
"For we must not forget that what we call our thought is really the place where we are using Creative Mind Itself. Our thought is creative, not because we will it so, but because it already is so. We cannot change this nor escape from its effects in our lives."
- Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind
I have been a Science of Mind student for many years. I keep expecting a magic bullet to kick-in one day that will make mind work easier. For some reason that hasn't happened yet. I wonder why...
